Saddam to be hanged right on cue

As predicted, Saddam Hussein sentenced to death by hanging today. Whether it'll bounce the Republicans sufficiently remains to be seen. The drug-taking gay-prostitute habits of a leading Evangelical, combined with paedophilia unreported in the Republican ranks plus the backlash against the war in Iraq have not boded well for the Republicans' campaign, and there's 48 hours left to go.

Well, it'll cheer up two people. I'm sure the tape of Saddam Hussein's dancing feet as he dangles will be watched time and time again by Bush father and Bush son, slapping each other's shoulders. A still from the execution will probably feature on the Bush family Christmas cards.

''Look, Daddy, see what I did for you? Do you love me now?''
'' Son, Mr President, I'm proud' '

Expect wall-to-wall coverage of Saddam's evil crimes and that stage-manged statue shot coming down again and again on TV. Still waiting for Bin Laden to be nabbed . Queen Elizabeth I knew you should always mop up baddies and enemies from the last reign before getting stuck into your own personal nemesis. Otherwise, it just gets messy.

Personally, I'm not comfortable with the death penalty. Even for crimes against humanity. He should rot in jail, thinking on what he has done. As should others, who cold-bloodedly ordered actions resulting in the deaths of thousands, based on ''policy'', posturing and lies.

UPDATE: Manic's pertinent pic.

Given the nature of some Republican supporters of the Bu$h White House, I wouldn't be surprised if this footage gets passed around in a brown paper bag with a box of Kleenex.

Yes, the Blair-Bush war machine will have their pound of flash. Not that it will in anyway impact on the rivers of blood washing over Iraq. The verdict should, indeed have been delayed so as not to precede the American mid-term elections. But that was not to be...I wonder why?

On the plus side of things, the extremely reliable forecasts a massive defeat for the Republicans come Tuesday night. Projected New Senate:51 Democrats, 49 Republicans. Projected New House of Reps: 239 Democrats 196 Republicans.
That's justice of a kind. Blair is next. The end is nigh for Tony.....

Nothing like a good hanging to rally the troups. So this is democracy in action, Bush style. Blair must also wish he could bring back hanging too. Would be great for his ratings.

You've nailed it with the Daddy, aren't you proud...

It is pitiable when global events are decided on the basis of George moving from being an alcoholic under achiever to a man "look Daddy, I'm the president!" rather than what is best

As you said, we were all sure that Saddam will be charged but seems that Bush and his band are using the trial for their internal political agenda !!!
