Bin Laden captured in US mid-term bonanza?

As we're all having great fun today with wild rumour and speculation... it's time for my guest conspiracy theory of the month. Could it possibly be that Bin Laden will pop up in handcuffs just in time for the US November midterm Congressional elections? Rumsfeld has just made a speech comparing him to Hitler? And Bush has finally admitted to CIA secret prisons as he moves 14 key terror suspects to Guantanamo to 'face trial', including an alleged 9/11 master mind? ( 'No torture', mind, just ''an alternative set of procedures once suspects had stopped talking''. Euch. Yeah, right.) Bin Laden, hmmm. What super luck for Bush THAT would be. ABC today.... Quick back-peddling.... more back-peddling ...

Yes Minister maxim. Never believe anything until it has been officially denied.
I might just put a bet on...

Before the last US election, one of the presenters on LBC radio was taking bets on when Bin Laden would be captured and thus secure a victory for Bush.

In the end he didn't turn up in person but a video of his was released in October 2004, four days before the election, in which he accepted responsibility for 9/11 and warned of future attacks.

The first opinion poll taken after the video was aired gave Bush a 6 point lead over Kerry. Bush later said that Bin Laden had won the election for him.

Good of Al Jazeria to screen it then - maybe they are in the pay of the CIA. Mossad, Zionists.....

I saw Bin Laden in a shop in Amsterdam the other day. I invited him round for a cup of tea. The Americans, whose consulate is just around the corner picked up our conversation on the microphones they installed in the Soviet days when this building was also a consulate. Their special forces jumped over the garden fence and caught him.

The Bin Ladens and the Bushes go way back. That's no 'conspiracy' but well known fact.

Hi there
(I was "anonymous" on your F-Word post.)

Good to know there are still sane people around. Kind of scarce where I live.

I have often wondered: What would I really do if i chanced to bump into the Bin-Man? Who would I tell? How? Would I? Because obviously the world is so small--if i look at the other people I am continually bumping into world wide--the US government must know.

I guess I would shut the hell up because it wouldn't look good if someone knew and they did nothing. But then, as one NYT-letter writer put it, if 200 Millions marched to Washington, they would not stirr either.

Secondly, so far I can up with at least 4 Bin-Lookalikess--and for pesonal reasons I have taken a really good look at that man:
1. a (South American) guy I dated only once who had an anger problem (in the states) Attach a beard to him, make him a little oder perhaps, and you have got your Bin.

2. Any guy with a beard that goes to a mosque in Saudi or is from Saudi--probably from the same clan originally.

3. A guy I have been told was wrongfully accused to be Bin laden on a train platform in Spain

4. Santa Claus if you make him younger and die his beard.

I would also like to note that as I crossed a market square in baghdad in Summer 2003, a man shouted something to me and the guy I was talking to translated for me:"They caught Saddam Hussein". Some media guys heard the same info, and this was later called a rumour. Around Christmas, i believe, Saddam was presented to the world wide television community, and I remember how I wondered...what if...

Anyway, the world is small, Arabs are the gossipiest people I know, and I am sure they would have known and told, but on the table everybody with a will to survive always keeps their mouth tightly shut. However, people do anything for money. You don't need to bomb a whole country or the whole world to get one guy. Unless, of course, that is what you want. Then you need at least one guy, or whatever.

Anyway, what do i care. Catching the Bin or not doesn't make the other angry victims kin of these wars and attacks less angry and it doesn't bring back my loved one. it kills mroe people who could take his place in my heart. And I doubt that would make anybody stop what they were up to if it's not a convenient moment anyhow.

Happy writing, enjoy your posts, gives me the illusion (?) that there is freedom of speech and such antiquities somewhere and Lots of the L-word.

I think you give to much credit to the US! Either they can't capture him or they dont want to. they dont have the ability to pull him out of a hat. I wouldn't put any money it.
