Does anyone know how to...

...get the 'About me' , the links and the archive index to appear on the top left of the page instead of being right at the bottom of the blog?

And does anyone know how to re-size photos?

Thanks for any help anyone can give. I have no idea what I am doing with making the blog prettier and more user-friendly, but I could really do with some ideas...

EDIT: OH GOD! Look at it! I tried to sort it out and it is a TOTAL mess! Help! Help, anyone? What do I do?

Hi Rachel, Firstly, photo sizing. I use a programme called "Hello" to get the images uploaded -that way they get re-sized at the same time. I position them manually as the Blogger Word add-on doesn't work for me (Italian language computer and English language Word confuses it, seemingly). I can easily get the image to stay on the left of the text - or full width/centred - by coding in the usual "float" command.Text placement is best done by picking a suitable template and modifying it as you get more used to it - try setting up anothe blog (not published) where you can play with the code without messing up what you already have done. I always take a copy of the code and keep it safe - as well as on the "dummy" blog that I keep for quick template changes when things go a bit pear-shaped. Hope this helps. Let me know if i can be of more help.

Best Regards,

If you're playing around with your template (and use a PC), try downloading Wbloggar.

It's incredibly useful all round - - but also lets you fiddle with things offline and gives you previews and all that.

The reason why the sidebar has dropped to the bottom is because the pictures of your cats are too big.

You could try using Flickr ( to host your photos. It allows you to share them and provides automatic re-sizing for posting to your blog.

In Word, save your pix (by right clicking) Click on saved pic till you see a frame and little squares in all corners, and middles of lines. Go to any corner (not middles) and place cursor on corner till cursor changes to Diagonal arrow. Press down, when dotted line appears drag inwards till desired size. NOTE if you reduce size from middles of lines you will alter the proportions. I know it works cos I’ve just done it to your cat. You don’t need specialist photo software for this it is in all standard Windows packages

Thank you for all the help. I've tried - I've taken out all the pictures, until I have time to resize and repost them. I've played about with the template, but is still playing silly buggers. I will have another crack at it later in the week.

Here is the template code if anyone can work out what the hell is going on..

Might I suggest that you set up a new email address in Yahoo or Hotmail and send it from that? I would be happy to go through your blog template for you and see where you went wrong. You have my blog Yahoo email address already I think. Ciao.
