Remember, it isnt democracy that has preserved our freedoms.
Our ancient liberties and freedoms where obtained, and sustained, a long time before we had a democracy.
Shortly before World War Two the Dutch held a census in which they asked everyone to state their religion. Then the Nazis came and rounded up the Jews. The Netherlands sent more people, percentage wise, to the concentration camps than any other country in Europe.
